Rupandighi Phansidewa, Darjeeling, January 28, 2025: Vidyasagar College of Education organized its 14th Annual Sports Meet on 28th January 2025 with great success. Preliminary events were held on 24th January 2025, including cricket for both boys and girls, Ludo, Long Jump, Shot Put, Hit the Wicket, and Badminton.The final sports day on 29th January 2025 began with the lighting of the lamp, followed by an inaugural song performed by the 1st and 3rd semester trainees. The welcome speech was delivered by the honorable Principal, Dr. Savita Mishra, who thanked Rangalal Biswas Sir and highlighted the importance of sports for health and education.Following the Principal’s speech, the release of the newsletter took place. Dr. MD. Basiruddin, Secretary, delivered his speech, followed by the Guest of Honour, Sri. Murari Prasad Singh, DIG BSF, who emphasized that “health is wealth” and the importance of teachers in society. The Chief Guest, Sri Gopal Lama, President of the West Bengal Kickboxing Association, gave an inspiring speech on the challenges of teaching and the need for thorough preparation and knowledge. The unfurling of the sports flag was followed by a march-past led by Punita Kumari, a 1st semester trainee, with the sports oath taken by Divyani Mukhia, also a 1st semester trainee. The declaration of the sports meet was marked by the release of balloons by the Chief Guest, Sri Gopal Lama. Cultural performances included Nepali dance, Bengali folk dance, Adivasi dance, and classical dance, all performed by 1st semester trainees. Events such as running races for both boys and girls, potato race, and passing the ball for volunteers were held. The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of all events, including cricket. The vote of thanks was delivered by Assistant Professor Paritosh Mahato, and the program was coordinated by Ma’am Paromita Dasgupta. The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking the successful organization of the 14th Annual Sports Meet.
