Vidyasagar College of Education was established on 3rd March 2007 in the hamlet Rupandighi in Phansidewa Block in Siliguri Sub-division of Darjeeling district in the State of West Bengal.

Vidyasagar College of Education run and managed by Phansidewa Kabiguru Rabindranath Educational Society (Registration No. 41L.32236, Dated September 27, 2005) to spread the light of knowledge in the Society by providing quality teacher education and to reach the opportunity of higher education to the doorstep of the youth of the rural boarder area.

The College operates under the vision to spread the light of knowledge in the Society by providing quality teacher education and to make the opportunities of higher education available to the doorsteps of the youth of the rural border area.

The institute has earned a reputation by offering programmes (both regular & ODL mode) in teacher education leading to the degrees of B.Ed. under the University of North Bengal and B.Ed., M.Ed., & M.A. (Education) of IGNOU. At present the Institute is affiliated to the WBUTTEPA and recognized by NCTE.
